Srinagar: Advocate Mian Abdul Qayoom was re-elected President of the High Court Bar Association of Indin occupied Kashmir for 19th time.

According to KMS, Mian Abdul Qayoom won over Advocate Nazir Ahmed Ronga by a margin of 222 votes. He got 464 out of total 722 votes polled while his opponent bagged 242 votes. Sixteen votes were declared rejected.

For the position of Vice President, Advocate Mushtaq Ahmad Dar won over his rival Muhammad Ashraf Butt by a margin of 142 votes. Mushtaq Ahmad Dar secured 422 while Muhammad Ashraf Butt got 280 votes.
In the direct contest between Advocate GN Shaheen and Muhammad Shabbir Butt for the post of General Secretary, the former defeated the latter by a margin of 74 votes. G N Shaheen bagged 392 votes while Muhammad Shabbir Butt secured 318.

For the post of Joint Secretary, Adil Aasmi defeated his rival candidates Asrar Ahmad and Ishrat-ul-Nisa. Aasmi bagged 282 votes, Asrar 270 and Ishrat-ul-Nisa 151.

Soon after he was declared victorious, Mian Qayoom addressed a gathering of lawyers and said that the Bar Association would continue its fight against use of pellets and human right violations by Indian troops in the occupied territory.
