Srinagar: In occupied Kashmir, the joint resistance leadership has said it is seriously looking into the actions being taken by the New Delhi-based National Investigation Agency (NIA) and will take appropriate steps in this regard after taking on board all quarters concerned.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the comprising Syed Ali Gilani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Mohammad Yasin Malik in a statement slammed the NIA for extending till October 17 the judicial custody of seven Hurriyat leaders and issuing fresh summons to sixty more students. “By pushing NIA into service, Indian authorities are terrorizing and harassing the political leadership, traders’ community, university professors, students, doctors, scholars, advocates and innocent citizens,†the leadership said.
“Authorities are using NIA as a war weapon and implicating resistance leaders in fabricated cases and subjecting them to vengeance,†it said and strongly condemned the detention of PhD scholar Aala Fazili. “The coercion and force will have its consequences and it is universal truth that wherever innocent people are harassed and human rights violated, the reaction is obvious and quite expected.â€
The leadership denounced the unending detention of Hurriyat leaders Altaf Ahmed Shah, Ayaz Akbar, Shahid-ul-Islam, Pir Saifullah, Meraj-u-Din Kalwal, Nayeem Ahmed Khan and Farooq Ahmed Dar, and said, “The puppet regime stands exposed and they have lost credibilityâ€. They said that Instead of taking any action against the erring forces personnel involved in violence, authorities are harassing student community.
Gilani, Mirwaiz and Malik said the significance of the Kashmir dispute will never fade. “India can neither break our resolve nor bring an iota of change in the nature of Kashmir dispute but should understand its gravity,†they said and urged New Delhi to fulfil its commitment and resolve the issue in view its historical background.
Meanwhile, the joint leadership also expressed deep concern over the incidents of braid chopping in south Kashmir and urged locals and mohalla and masjid committees to keep a close vigil over miscreants involved in such immoral activities and to expose them in public.
Gilani, Mirwaiz and Malik said the authorities have virtually handed over south Kashmir to ruthless forces and are unleashing a reign of terror against innocent people, thus creating chaos.
The leadership paid rich tributes to Abdul Qayoom Najar, who was martyred by Indian troops in Uri, two days ago. The leadership extended its heartfelt condolence to the martyr’s family.
