New Delhi: Courts in New Delhi have extended the judicial custody of senior APHC leader, Shabbir Ahmad Shah till October 13 and seven other Hurriyat leaders till October 17.
The Enforcement Directorate had filed the charge-sheet against these leaders, arrested on fake charges on September 23.
Additional Sessions Judge Sidharth Sharma gave copies of final report to Shabbir Ahmad Shah and set October 13 as the next date of hearing when it will also scrutinize the report and other documents filed along with it.
Shabbir Ahmad Shah was handed an over-1900-page charge-sheet by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Thursday in New Delhi. The ED had lodged a fake money-laundering case against him. The case pertains to 2005. Shabbir Ahmad Shah was arrested from Srinagar on July 26, after which the ED flew him to Delhi, where he was questioned and has since been lodged in Tihar Jail. Another Kashmiri, Mohammad Aslam Wani, too has been arrested in the same case. Both Shah and Wani are currently in judicial custody.
Meanwhile, another court extended till October 17 the judicial custody of seven other Kashmiri leaders. During the in-camera proceedings, District Judge Poonam Bamba extended the judicial custody of Shahid-ul-Islam, Ayaz Muhammad Akbar, Farooq Ahmad Dar, Nayeem Khan, Altaf Ahmad Shah, Raja Merajuddin Kalwal and Peer Saifullah.
On July 24, the Indian National Investigation Agency had arrested the seven on the so-called charges of “criminal conspiracy” and “waging war against India.”
