Srinagar: In occupied Kashmir, hundreds of Kashmir University students continued their protests for the second consecutive day, today, against the summoning of a varsity scholar by the Indian National Investigation Agency (NIA).

The students from various departments of the varsity boycotted class work and assembled outside their departments and took out a protest rally in the university campus.

The students while raising slogans like “NIA back off”, “Go India Go Back”, “We Stand With Aala” and “We Want Freedom” warned that they would lock down the university if the unwarranted questioning of varsity scholar, Aala Fazili by the NIA did not stop immediately.

The students of Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST) also held protests at its Awantipora campus against the summoning of Aala Fazli by NIA.

Carrying banners, demanding immediate end to the questioning of Aala, the protesting students marched through the campus. The National Investigation Agency is questioning Aala for the past three days.

Meanwhile, in view of student protests, the authorities closed educational institutions including MP Higher Secondary School, SP Higher Secondary School, Amar Singh College and Islamia College, today. The decision to close these institutions was taken in the wake of ongoing student protests against the summoning of Kashmiri University scholar, Aala Fazli by the National Investigation Agency.
