NEW YORK: Pakistan permanent representative to UN Maleeha Lodhi has said Pakistan is victim of cross border terrorism and we are not ready to fight Afghan war on our own soil.

“a three dimensional strategy is needed for peace in Afghanistan. Pakistan is victim of cross border terrorism. Pakistan is not ready to fight Afghan war on its soil”, she said this while speaking in a debate over Afghanistan in UN Security Council.

She held peace process is inevitable between insurgent groups and Afghan government. A peace process between Afghan government and insurgent groups will help take war to a political end. The international community has agreed that war is no option to Afghan issue. Taliban should shun violence and pursue the path of dialogue, she stressed.

She went on to say that need is there that comprehensive talks take place between Afghan Taliban and government. No such strategy which has failed repeatedly in the past can be imposed, she remarked. Daesh, Al-Qaeda, TTP and other organizations linked to them will have to be defeated.

She underlined that effective steps are must for preventing cross border movement of militants and their attacks

She started that as many as 20 organizations including TTP and Jamaat Al-Ahrar are involved in attacks on Pakistan from Afghanistan soil. Pakistan fought a successful war against terrorism with its 200000 soldiers and we eliminated the terrorists from border areas, she added.
