Muzaffarabad: (Parliament Times) Prime Minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir Raja Farooq Haider Khan has said that the way Azad Kashmir became the polio-free zone, the disease of dengue and hepatitis would also be eradicated to make AJK a Dengue-free region.

He was addressing the participants of Special Walk, organised by the department of Health with collaboration of District Administration, Municipal Corporation, SDMA, Department of Agriculture, Department of Education, Department of Animals Husbandry, traders and civil society to create the awareness about Dengue among the people.
Emphasizing on the protection and special treatment of Dengue patients to avoid potential risks, the AJK premier said people should cooperate with government so that the disease can be prevented from spreading. “Dengue is a dangerous disease” he said adding that to fight this disease government will provide budget to Health Department according to its needs.

Earlier, the Special Walk started from Upper Adda and ended at Madina Market. Minister of Health, Dr. Najib Naqi, Director General Health, Dr. Choudhary Bashir, Deputy Commissioner Muzaffarabad Massudul Rehman, Director Health Services Department Diseases Dr. Sabir Abbasi, DHO Muzaffarabad Director Kamran Riaz, ADHO Dr. Sardar Zafar Iqbal, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Additional Deputy Commissioner General , Ashfaq Gilani, Administrator Baldia Shakeel Gilani, Senior Scientific Officer Dr. Mahmood Hussain Kayani, Chairman Trader General Action Committee Abdul Razza Khan, General Secretary Muzaffarabad Seerat Committee Atiq Ahmed Kayani, Agriculture Assistant Director Malik Amir, AEO Arshad Akbar Mughal and others also addressed the gathering.

Addressing the participants, Prime Minister Raja Farooq Haider Khan said that the Department of Health has started special campaign for the prevention and protection of Dengue. “During this year, no local cases of dengue were registered in Muzaffarabad; however, Dengue cells should be set up in Azad Kashmir, especially in capital, Muzaffarabad”, he added.

Meanwhile the Prime Minister Raja Farooq Haider Khan has chaired the meeting on National Health Program. Chief Secretary, Principal Secretary, Secretary Finance, Secretary Health, DG Health and other officers attended the meeting. Participants at the meeting expressed satisfaction over polio vaccination campaign across the country.
