MUZAFFARABAD: The dilapidated condition of main road from Kohala to Lower Topa posing a serious risk to commuters has now become a concrete desolation for passengers as well as the people living in the adjacent areas.

Interestingly, the road from Lower Topa towards Kohala passes through the areas that fall under the jurisdiction of incumbent Prime Minister of Pakistan Shahid Khaqan Abbasi’s constituency. Forty Kilometers road was made by his father, Late Khaqaan Abbasi.

It is worth to mention here that the main road of Muree connecting express way has never been repaired since past many decades. The Land and mud-sliding are the constant feature of the hilly road but non-maintenance has made 40 kms long journey so hectic that it takes more than 2 hours to cover a drive of 30 minutes.

Budget to build express way from Lower Topa to Muzaffarabad has been allocated many times but work could not be initiated until yet. One of the passengers Mustafa told this correspondent, “I often travel to different parts of country but I have not seen this kind of bad road even in far-flung areas of country”.
More than 1 million people travel on daily basis and this is main route for heavy transport. People of AJK as well as KPK and Punjab demanded PM Pakistan Shahid Khaqan Abbasi to build the main road from Lower Topa to Kohala to facilitate locals besides promoting Tourism.
