MIRPUR (AJK): Veteran Kashmiri social worker and elderly businessman Haji Muhammad Saleem, the founder of Nafees Group of Bakers (AJK and United Kingdom) was laid to rest at Naangi graveyard here on Friday. Haji Salim, an eminent icon of the social welfare services to the ailing humanity in Azad Jammu & Kashmir, had passed away here on Thursday of cardiac arrest after prolonged illness at the age of 77.Thousands of people from all walks of life from Mirpur and rest of AJK, Pakistan and the United Kingdom, offered the funeral prayer. Those attended the funeral included social and political workers, members of the business community, employees of private and public sector organizations, lawyers, journalists and the city elite.Late Haji Salim attained the distinction of being a social worker through actively taking part in the activities for the rehabilitation of the sick humanity. The emergence of the state-of-the art grand Mirpur-based Kashmir Institute of Cardiology by him since about 20 years ago is one of the major contributions to serve the ailing humanity. AJK President Sardar Masood Khan and the Prime Minister Raja Farooq Haider Khan have expressed deep sense of shock and grief over the demise of Haji Muhammad Salim. They termed the death a great loss to the people and the state of AJK. Both the leaders prayed for the rest of the departed soul in eternal peace and grant of fortitude to the bereaved family to bear the loss with courage.
