Islamabad: (Parliament Times) Chairman – Islamabad Industrial Forum M. Akram Farid after meeting with the CDA Chairman told the press that establishment of industrial sector in I-17 will help to boost the industry and economy in this region.
“This will facilitate not only the industry but also the CDA in management also”, he said.

M. Akram Farid talking on behalf of the industrialist strongly condemned a news item regarding conversion of proposed industrial sector in to residential sector. “There is dire need of marking and allotment of industrial plots on urgent basis. With the up-coming CPEC, this needs immediate attention and I-17 is ideal location for the industrial units, he added.

He further said that there are more than 800 industrial units in I-9 and I-10 sectors which are helping in the economy of the country and providing service chances to the masses. “The traders and industrialist are giving millions of rupees as taxes and if the new industrial sector is established the tax collection will increase manifold. Also the industries are the back bone of every country’s economy”, he maintatined.

Shakeel Munir said that the Marble industry will also flourish due to the new sector and the finished goods will be exported causing substantial inflow of foreign exchange. Former President ICCI Khalid Javed said that I-17 industrial area will serve all the traders and industrialist in their required need and demands.
Traders and industrialist pinned their hopes to CDA for speedy function of the sectors as older ones have been saturated long ago. Economic activities will flourish in no times as there is arrival of CPEC and new technologies are making their ways in Pakistan, so industrial sectors are the main stake holders in making Pakistan a developed country, they asserted.
Pertinently, establishment of I-17 Industrial sector was announced in 2009, but so far no further work has been done.
