Rawalpindi: (Parliament Times) Water & Sanitation Authority Rawalpindi (WASA) is implementing Emergency Plan to drain out water accumulated in various low lying areas of Rawalpindi in result of torrential rains started early morning of Wednesday.

Deputy Commissioner Rawalpindi, Talat Mehmud Gondal, said that despite of 80 mm rain fall, the situation remained normal and under control. “Water level at Gowalmandi point in Nullah Leh rose up to 9 feet and at Katarian remained 8 feet”, he said adding that MD, WASA Raja Shaukat Mehmud himself remained present in most low lying areas and monitored the rescue work.
He further said that Civil Defence Department, Rescue 1122 and all other related agencies remained at red alert position to tackle any untoward situation. Similarly, MD, WASA Raja Shaukat Mehmud informed that allied and heavy machinery was used to evacuate water from Murree Road, Jamia Masjid Road, Sadiqabad areas, Katarian and Zafar ul Haq Road
