BRUSSELS: Handicrafts, dresses, and pieces featuring Kashmiri art and culture were displayed at an exhibition organised on Wednesday by the Kashmir Council Europe (KC-EU) at the European Press Club.

Attracting a large number of people with an interest in the Kashmiri traditions and handiwork, the event aimed to highlight the lives and style of people from the troubled region and create awareness about it.

“We want to show solidarity with the people of Kashmir through such events,” Ali Raza Syed – Chairman of the KC-EU – said. He emphasised that art and culture are effective tools to bring to limelight the human rights and wherever they’re being violated.

Besides promoting Kashmiri culture, Syed added the exhibition was also a way to bring Europeans up-to-date about the ongoing situation in the Indian-held Kashmir (IHK).

So far, the KC-EU has held numerous conferences, seminars, exhibitions, and campaigns in Belgium and other European countries to create and bolster awareness about Kashmir.
