Srinagar: In occupied Kashmir, the All Parties Hurriyet Conference (APHC) Chairman, Syed Ali Gilani, paying tributes to martyred youth, Basharat Ahmad Sheikh and Aijaz Ahmad, has said that the sacrifices of Kashmiri martyrs would bring fruit soon.
Syed Ali Gilani in a statement issued in Srinagar said, “Our youth are laying down their lives to end the age-old slavery, putting a huge responsibility on our shoulders to honour these sacrifices and take the movement to its logical end.â€
He said the world forums stand witness to the Kashmir dispute and even top Indian leadership pledged to give the Kashmiri people their right to self-determination, however, India later backed away from its commitment and is continuing its illegal occupation over Jammu and Kashmir and trampling all basic rights of Kashmiris.
The APHC Chairman asked the people to demonstrate steadfastness and persistence in their liberation struggle. He said, “It is very disheartening and sad that we are counting bodies of our youngsters and as such we are duty-bound to follow their mission with sincerity and commitment. “
He deplored that India had responded ruthlessly and beastly without lending an ear to the Kashmiris’ aspirations. This arrogance, haughtiness and persistent denial can’t hold water for long and India has to come to terms with the writing on the wall, he added.
Syed Ali Gilani said that Indian authorities needed to understand that Kashmir was a recognized dispute and it would remain till it was resolved in accordance with the aspirations of the Kashmiri people.
Meanwhile, the APHC spokesman in a statement in Srinagar deplored that Syed Ali Gilani continued to remain under house arrest despite his ailing health and was also barred from offering Juma prayers. He said that Amarnath pilgrims were being provided all facilities but the resistance leadership was caged and even restrictions were imposed on Eid and other religious festivals.
He also condemned the continued house detention of Hurriyet leaders Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai and Muhammad Ashraf Laya and appealed to the international rights organizations to take cognizance of the matter.
