Srinagar: In occupied Kashmir, the forum led by Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has strongly condemned the continued house arrest of its chairman and imposition of curfew and other restrictions by the puppet authorities in the territory.
A spokesman of the forum in a statement issued in Srinagar said that barring Mirwaiz Umar Farooq from carrying out his religious duties in the holy month of Ramadan was direct interference into his religious affairs. He said that the Mirwaiz was scheduled to deliver a sermon at the shrine of Hazrat Naqashband Sahib (RA) at Khawaja Bazar in Srinagar on the death anniversary of Hazrat Fatima (RA), the daughter of the Holy Prophet (PBUH), but could not visit the place because of his house arrest and continued curfew in Srinagar.
The spokesman while quoting the Mirwaiz said that women in Kashmir were facing series of issues on social, religious and political fronts. He paid glowing tributes to Hazrat Fatima (RA) terming her a role model for all Muslim women across the globe.
The spokesman also condemned the illegal detention of Hurriyet leaders including Syed Ali Gilani, Muhammad Yasin Malik, Mukhtar Ahmed Waza and Advocate Shahid-ul-Islam. He castigated the puppet authorities for police raids on the houses of youth, especially in Pattan area of Baramulla district, during night hours.
