Srinagar: In occupied Kashmir, Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) has expressed concern over the threatening and intimidating statement of Indian Army Chief, Bipin Rawat in which he has advocated the use of military power against the peaceful protesters in the Kashmir Valley.

The JI in a statement issued in Srinagar said that General Rawat’s assertion was tantamount to give a free license to the army personnel to use power at their will against the Kashmiri people, thereby assuring them total exemption from any legal accountability.

“His desire that the protestors use bullets instead of stones depicts his inner appetite for killing the Kashmiri youth, and indicates the dreadful plans of BJP-led Indian government to crush the public uprising in Kashmir,” the statement added.

The statement said, “The exemption of army personnel from any legal action involved in human rights violations clearly indicates the plan to use the military power against the people so as to crush their peaceful movement for their basic right to self-determination as promised to them by the Indian government a number of times through the UN Security Council.”

The Jamaat-e-Islami of occupied Kashmir impressed upon the UN and all the international and local human rights bodies to take serious notice of such statements and initiate necessary measures to save the Kashmiri people from Indian brutalities.
