Islamabad: (Parliament Times) The president of Azad Jammu and Kashmir Sardar Masood Ahmed Khan while stressing the need for resolving Kashmir dispute in accordance with the UN resolutions has said that bilateral engagement with India on the issue of Kashmir would be nothing but an exercise in futility.

The AJK president made the assertions while addressing a seminar, which was organized by Center for Security, Strategy and Policy Research (CSSPR) University of Lahore on Thursday. Khan said it was high time to sensitize United Nations about the importance of the early settlement of Kashmir dispute. Kashmiris he said were not alone in their just struggle for right to self-determination. “The OIC member countries and many western countries support Kashmiris’ just cause”, Khan said adding that even Indian civil society has started to raise their voices in favour of Kashmiris. Regarding Indian claim on Kashmir President Masood Khan said that Kashmir has never been part of Indian union.

Khan said that founding leaders of Pakistan had given a solemn pledge to the people of Kashmir that no part of the erstwhile state would be integrated with Pakistan unless the people of the entire region was given their basic right the right to self-determination. “That is the reason that an independent governing setup was established in the liberated territory of Azad Jammu and Kashmir”, he added.

Referring to the prevailing political and human rights situation in Indian held Kashmir the AJK president told the audience that India occupation forces were committing genocide of Kashmiris. “Innocent civilians are being ruthlessly killed and young boys and girls are being blinded by using pellet guns and live ammunitions”, he said.
Regarding Kashmiris’ unconditional love for Pakistan he said that Kashmiris burry their martyrs in Pakistani flags. He said that it was quite unfortunate that certain elements in Pakistan talk about give and take solution of Kashmir dispute. “On one hand Kashmiris are rendering great sacrifices, offering their red hot blood to become part of Pakistan while on the other certain elements keep talking against the interests of their own country”, the president said.

Terming Kashmiris and Pakistanis as inseparable he said that accession of entire state of Jammu and Kashmir was essentially imperative for Pakistan’s defense, agriculture and economy. “It is not just a piece of land; the fate of our country (Pakistan) is linked to Kashmir”, the president said.
Regarding Indian Prime Minister Naredar Modi’s outrageous statement he said that India had threatened to stop water from flowing to Pakistan. At the end of seminar AJK president was presented a shield by chief patron of the CSSPR University of Lahore.
It may be recalled here that the seminar was attended and addressed by Professors, renowned educationists and students of the University including Owais Rauof Chairman CSSPR, Dr. Arshad, Faryal Gowhar and others
