Srinagar: In occupied Kashmir, the Chairman of Hurriyet forum, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has said that severe oppression and occupation of their territory by India is forcing Kashmiri youth to choose the path of armed struggle for liberation of their motherland.

Mirwaiz Umar Farooq in a statement said, “India should give up its obduracy and admit that the political aspirations of the people of Kashmir have to be taken cognizance of and respected and suppression and subjugation as a policy cannot be continued forever.”

The Mirwaiz, who continues to be under house detention, for the past four weeks, paid rich tributes to the two Pulwama youth, Raees and Farooq Ahmad, who were killed by Indian forces in Padgampora Awantipora area of Pulwama district on Sunday.

“It greatly pains that our youth who are the future of our nation should sacrifice their life when they should have been living out their dreams of a bright and prosperous future. But severe oppression and occupation of their nation unfortunately forces many among them to choose the path, he added.

Meanwhile, while paying glowing tributes to the youth, the Dukhtaran-e-Millat (DeM) Chairperson Aasiya Andrabi in a statement called for giving a serious thought to the causes leading to the relentless killing of the youth by troops in the territory.
