ISLAMABAD: The high court took back the arrest warrant of NADRA Chairpersons Usman Mubeen after he appeared before the court on Wednesday.

Mubeen told the court he did not appear thinking the court would be closed due to the Economic Cooperation Organization summit that was under way in Islamabad.

However, he assured the court of appearing for the next hearing, that has been scheduled for March 3.

His arrest warrant was issued by the Islamabad High Court (IHC) judge, Justice Noor-ul-Haq Qureshi.

The warrant was issued over the 2010 order not been responded to.

In 2010, IHC had asked National Database and Registration Authority to provide access of the biometric details of land revenue to the police and Federal Investigation Agency. But NADRA did not act upon the orders. Subsequently, a contempt of court case was filed against the chairperson in 2016.

The chairperson of NADRA was someone else, not Mubeen, during that period.
