MIRPUR: (Parliament Times) Distinguished jurist Muhammad Shabir Shareef Advocate and Muhammad Mudassar Iqbal Advocate have been elected President and General Secretary respectively of District Bar Association Mirpur, Azad Jammu Kashmir, in the annual elections held here for stipulated one year constitutional term of year 2017, it was officially declared. The official results of the annual elections to the DBA office bearers were announced by the DBA Elections Board here late Sunday night. Other office bearers elected included Haleem Azam Advocate (Vice President) and Sarfraz Ahmed Advocate (Joint Secretary).
The triumphant DBA President Muhammad Shabir Shareef Advocate defeated his only rival candidate Ms. Nabeela Ayub Khan Advocate. Two panels landed their respective candidates against each other in the elections. The victorious Muhammad Shabir Shareef Advocate bagged 212 votes against his rival candidate Ms. Nabeela Ayub Advocate who bagged 206 votes.
Likewise newly-elected General Secretary Muhammad Madasser Iqbal Advocate obtained 240 votes defeating his only rival Khalid Hussain Advocate who could obtain 170 votes.
The victorious candidate for Vice President Haleem Azeem Advocate secured 209 votes defeating his nearest rival Nassar Ullah Advocate who bagged 201 votes. Similarly the newly elected Joint Secretary Sarfraz Ahmed Advocate clinched victory securing 237 votes against his only rival Mudassar Masood Malik Advocate who got 167 votes. The polling held in a peaceful manner.
