Muzaffarabad: (Parliament Times) The fourth martyrdom anniversary of the prominent Kashmiri freedom fighter Muhammad Afzal Guru Shaheed was observed in Azad Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday.
Shaheed Muhammad Afzal Guru was hanged by Indian Authorities on 9th Feburary 2013 in Tihar Jail at New Delhi.
In Muzaffarabad, speakers at a function held at Central press Club today termed the hanging of Kashmiris freedom fighters unethical, illegal, and immoral act of Indian rulers.
They demanded return of mortal remains of Shaheed Maqbool Butt and Shaheed Afzal Guru for a respectful burial in Kashmir.
Leaders of various political, human rights and Hurriyat organizations urged International community to take serious notice of Indian state terrorism in occupied Kashmir. The speakers
While paying glowing tributes to the martyred freedom fighter said that Afzal Guru was hanged to death without being given a fair trial. He was executed, they said, just to terrify the people of Kashmir by sending them a message that to what extent Indian state can go to crush the freedom sentiment of the Kashmiris.
They said that with all that brutality and cruelty India could not kill the sentiment of freedom from the hearts and minds of the people of Kashmir. They said this has only strengthened the resolve and commitment of the Kashmiris towards the freedom struggle of Kashmir.
The speakers also supported the strike call given by the Hurriyet leadership and pay tributes to other martyred leaders including Shaheed Maqbool Butt. They urged India to return mortal remains of Afzal Guru from Tihar jail.
