Srinagar: Hurriyet leader and Jammu Kashmir and Salvation Movement (JKSM) Chairman, Zafar Akbar Butt, today, paid glowing tributes to the veteran Jamaat-e-Islami leader and well-known Islamic scholar, Shaheed Abdul Rasheed Ganai on his 19th martyrdom anniversary.

Zafar Akbar Butt in a statement issued in Srinagar recounted the sacrifices rendered by the martyr for the ongoing liberation struggle. He said that Abdul Rasheed was arrested by the Indian forces on 26th jan and martyred in custody.He also paid glowing tributes to shankerpora martyrs Haji Abdul Gani Bat, Sidiq Saleh, Umar Fayaz Jan and Irfan Yousuf,Suhail ahmed,M. ashraf who laid down their lives for Kashmir freedom. He said that mission of martyrs will be taken to its logical conclusion and their precious sacrifices will not be allowed to go waste.

The JKSM Chairman and leaders also paid tributes to those martyred in Handwara and Kupwara on 25th and 27th January in 90s. He demanded a thorough probe into the bloodshed and demanded exemplary punishment for involved persons in the Hundwara and Kupwara massacres. In this connectionJKSM leaders Irshad Ahmed,Asheq Hussain, Mushtaq Ahmed organize a prayers function at martyrs graveyard handwara and paid tributes to them and other martyrs of Kashmir dozens of JKSM activists and common people attend the function.

He said that despite the passage of over 27years families were still waiting for justice. He said that Kashmiris had rendered priceless sacrifices and would not deter from offering more for receiving freedom.

Zafar Butt condemned the nocturnal raids, restrictions, frisking of civilians on roads and detention of innocent youth ,Jail released militant turn politicians, ahead of January 26, Indian Republic Day. He said that dozens of party leaders and activists had been asked to report to different police stations which was sheer frustration of the authorities.
