Muzaffarabad: (Parliament Times) AJK Prime Minister Raja Farooq Haider Khan has directed the officials concerned to spend income from the cash offerings of devotees and rent of Auqaf properties on provision of better facilities to the devotees.

Chairing a meeting of Auqaf Department attended by Chief Secretary, Secretary Auqaf , Principal Secretary and other officials, Prime Minister announced to reorganize Auqaf department and abolition of some unnecessary posts in the department. He directed that expenses of the department should be according to the income, collection of rent of the Auqaf property according to market rates, leasing out of Auqaf property through open bidding, vacation of Auqaf property from illegal occupants and improvement of the functioning of Institute of Higher Studies being run by the Auqaf department.

Addressing a meeting the Prime Minister expressed his resolve to raise the facilities at the shrines of for the devotees and the visitors. He directed the officials of Auqaf to discharge their duties with dedication and provide better facilities to the devotees. He directed that the income at shrines should be spent for better facilities and welfare of the poor who eat at “longer” there.

The meeting gave approval of budget of Auqaf department and decided to construct a plaza at the department’s commercial property. The meeting also urged to complete the projects of adjoining parks at the shrine of Khari Sharif, Baba Shadi Shaheed and Sain Sehli Sarkar.

Briefing the Prime Minister Secretary Auqaf told that financial discipline as per directives of the PM was being observed in his department. Unnecessary posts had been slashed while the department had put a ban on any kind of appointments, he added. He said cleanliness system at the shrines had also been much improved now. Earlier British Council delegation called on Mr. Haider and discussed matters relating to British Council’s current and future projects in AJK. Another delegation from Kotli called on the Prime Minister and apprised him.
