Srinagar: In occupied Kashmir, over fifty thousand people raising pro-freedom and anti-India slogans participated in the funeral of a B.Tech student, Basit Rasool Dar, who was martyred by Indian troops in Marhama area of Islamabad district, today.
Indian troops in their fresh act of state terrorism, martyred two Kashmiri youth in Islamabad and Baramulla districts, today. The funeral of Basit Rasool Dar was held at Marhama in Bijbehara area. Hurriyet leader Mukhtar Ahmad Waza participated in the funeral, while Chairman of All Parties Hurriyet Conference, Syed Ali Gilani addressed the mourners over telephone from Srinagar.
The killing led to massive anti-India protests in Bijbehara, Kanelwan, Bewoora and Srigufwara areas of the district. The Indian army claimed that Basit Rasool Dar was killed during an encounter.
The body of another youth was recovered from debris of a residential house blasted by Indian troops at Bomai in Sopore area of the Baramulla district. Indian forces used improvised explosive device to blast the house. Thousands of people staged anti-India protests in different areas of the town demanding the body of the martyred youth.
Meanwhile, media reports said that attendance of funeral prayers of mujahideen by large crowds has added to the worries of India and its stooges, who are already unnerved by the five-month uprising triggered by the killing of Hizbul Mujahideen commander Burhan Wani. The reports maintained that during encounters, the crowds try to break security cordon in an attempt to help the holed up mujahideen.
APHC leaders Mir Shahid Saleem, Muhammad Yousuf Naqash, Zamruda Habib, Naheeda Nasrin and Farida Behanji in their separate statements denounced the killing of youth by Indian troops and continued illegal detention of woman Hurriyet leaders Aasiya Andrabi and Fehmida Sofi.
Speakers addressing a function in Sopore, paid glowing tributes to prominent Kashmiri liberation leader, Sofi Muhammad Akbar, on his 29th death anniversary, today. They reiterated the Kashmiris’ resolve to continue the liberation struggle till its logical conclusion, against all odds. The Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front Chairman, Muhammad Yasin Malik in a statement said that Sofi Muhammad Akbar was a great patriot and a selfless leader who till his last breath remained steadfast with freedom movement.
On the other hand, the International Federation of Journalists in a resolution adopted at its meeting in Kathmandu strongly condemned the attacks and restrictions on media reporting in Jammu and Kashmir. It expressed solidarity with the journalists in the conflict-ridden territory. The IFJ regretted the use of pellet guns and firing by police, troops and paramilitary forces on unarmed people. It also condemned the arbitrary ban imposed by the puppet regime on the publication of the English daily Kashmir Reader.
