Muzaffarabad:(Parliament Times) Azad Jammu and Kashmir President Sardar Muhammad Masood Khan has urged the Kashmiri youth to play their role in highlighting plights of people of Occupied Kashmir at the national and international forums.

Talking to a delegation of Youth Forum for Kashmir here on Saturday he said that youth can play a key role in drawing the attention of international community towards the deteriorating human rights situation in Occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

He particularly emphasized on the effective use of social media to highlight the brutalities being committed by the Indian forces in held territory. Lauding the passion and performance of YFK in AJK, President told them that “We are free and do not have to face any restriction to raise our voice in support of our brethren struggling across the ceasefire line. Things are not like this in the IHK where people’s voice is stiffled for standing up for their rights. He said that even media had to face curbs for bringing the facts to the fore. People are killed, maimed and blinded just for claiming their right to self-determination” he said.

Mr. Khan urged the youth to make their lives constructive and meaningful and use social media to highlight more effectively the brutalities and savagery of Indian forces against Kashmiris in IHK. “A part of our body is in the clutches of our enemy. They are deprived of the right of self-defense by Indian brute authorities. When the Kashmiri youths use stones or sticks in self-defense they are branded as terrorists” he pointed out. He said India despite letting loose a reign of terror against people of IHK managed to convey to the international community that it was right in its actions but we could not expose well its tyrannical measures in the held valley.

The head of delegation Miss Maria told the President that her group launched a special campaign of exposing Indian atrocities by protesting regularly on every Friday in front of central press club Muzaffarabad. “I also visited the medical and cadet colleges of the State to address the students to prepare them for future challenges including aggressively highlighting Kashmir issue. We are setting up the branches of YFK in all the districts of the State. One of our objectives is to write letters to UN Secretary General and Commissioner for Human Rights on how Kashmiris were being victimized – killed, maimed and blinded” She said.

Earlier, Maria Iqbal Tarana briefed AJK President about the organizational structure of Kashmir Forum for Youth and its work for Kashmir cause.  AJK President appreciated the efforts of the organization and assured them all possible cooperation by AJK government.
