Muzaffarabad: Jammu martyrs day is being observed today throughout Azad Jammu and Kashmir and in Pakistan to commemorate the massacre of   Muslims in Jammu on 6th November 1947.

The day reminds the sacrifice of those hundreds of thousands of Muslims who were mercilessly slained by Hindu extremists Rashtrya Sewak Sung (RSS) near Jammu when they were on their way to Pakistan aboard trucks and buses.

The day dawned   with special prayers for solidarity, integrity and prosperity of Pakistan and early liberation of occupied Jammu and Kashmir from Indian clutches. Quran Khawani and Fateha Khawani was held for the souls of martyrs of Jammu and Kashmir.

Public meetings and seminars are being held all over the state to pay homage to the martyrs of Jammu and Kashmir who sacrificed their lives for the cause of Islam and Pakistan. In the state capital   Muzaffarabad a function was held at central Press club under the aegis of Kashmir Liberation Cell.

Speakers including, member AJK Legislative Assembly, Dr Mustafa Bashir, former minister and PTI- AJK leader Khawaja Farooq Ahmed, PPP leader Shoukat Javed Mir, Secretary Kashmir Liberation Cell, Idrees Abbasi, Jamaat Islami, District Muzaffarabad Chief, Qazi Shahid Hamid, Vice Chairman Human Rights Forum, Mushtaqul Islam and others paid glowing tributes to the martyrs of Jammu and expressed their resolve to complete the mission of the martyrs.

Member AJK Legislative Assembly, Dr Mustafa Bashir said in his speech that Pakistan is pleader of Kashmiri people and playing an effective role to highlight the Kashmir cause under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif. He said democratic and prosperous Pakistan can better highlight the Kashmiri peoples’ struggle for their right to self determination.

The government in the base camp of Kashmir Freedom Movement, he said, will spare no effort to extend all possible held to the freedom loving people of Occupied Kashmir.

Speaking on the occasion speakers said that this day reminds us the determination of Muslims of Jammu who laid down their precious lives for Pakistan.

They said the sacrifices of people of Jammu and Kashmir are unforgettable.  They said by waving  Pakistani flags in occupied Jammu and  Kashmir,  Kashmiris have given a clear message to the world that they will never compromise on their principled stand, the internationally recognized right to self determination. Paying tribute to the sacrifices of the Jammu they said Kashmiris had linked destiny with Pakistan in 1947 and would continue their struggle till the goal was achieved.

The speakers called upon United Nations and other influential countries of the world to take serious notice of rights abuses in Indian Occupied Kashmir. They said that peace and tranquility cannot be restored in South Asian region without just and peaceful settlement of Kashmir conflict.

Similar functions were held in district all district headquarters of Azad Jammu and with the pledge that no effort would be spared for Kashmir liberation struggle. The speakers assured the APHC leadership and people of IHK that people of Pakistan and AJK would continue moral, political and diplomatic support of their brethren struggling for their right to self determination. A meeting presided over by the deputy commissioner Poonch Chaudhry Muhammad Altaf and attended by district officers and heads of various departments also prayed for the souls of the Jammu Martyrs.
