Muzaffarabad: The President of Azad Jammu and Kashmir Muhammad Masood Khan, Prime Minister Raja Muhammad Farooq Haider Khan and Minister for Information Mushtaq Ahmed Minhas have said 69th Foundation Day of the Government and the State of Azad Jammu and Kashmir is being celebrated with zeal and national fervor. Describing the day as milestone in the history of Kashmir, they felicitated nation on the occasion and expressed their hope the very purpose for which AJK government was established on this day would be achieved soon.
The President in his message said there was a great historical struggle behind the establishment of Government and State of the Azad Jammu and Kashmir on 24 October 1947; the people of the Jammu and Kashmir had strong-will to annex their future and fortune with Pakistan. However, in accordance with the partition plan, when the Kashmiri people could not get their right to self determination, they started the historical movement against the tyrant Indian forces to realize their wishes and aspirations to annex with Pakistan and after armed struggle of 15 months, they liberated a large part of the Jammu and Kashmir from the clutches of Dogara Raj and established a revolutionary Azad government. The people of Azad Jammu and Kashmir are struggling for the last 69 years to make their freedom movement a success. During these 69 years the Indian government promised many times to conduct the referendum and give the people of Jammu and Kashmir the right to self determination. However, instead of fulfilling its promises the Indian government started to inflict more oppression on Kashmiri people but they faced all oppressive circumstances with courage and bravery and kept on their struggle in every thick and thin. The government of Pakistan People’s Party in Azad Jammu and Kashmir is until this date playing an important and crucial role in this freedom struggle.
The Prime Minister said the government of Pakistan Muslim League under the leadership of Prime Minister of Pakistan Nawaz Sharif is supporting the Kashmir Movement and the right to Self Determination. The recent stance of Nawaz Sharif on Kashmir and the appreciation of his stance by Kashmiris is self explanatory and a substantial evidence of the commitment of PML(N) leadership with Kashmiris. India must realize now that Kashmiris can never be suppressed through excessive use of power. He said Kashmir issue is the fundamental cause of deprivation and poverty in South Asia. For a durable peace in the South Asia, I would say that the Kashmir dispute must be resolved in accordance with the aspirations of the people.
Mushtaq Minhas said “I want to salute all the people and freedom fighters on this occasion of 69th Foundation Day of government and the State of Azad Jammu and Kashmir and guarantee them of complete support in their struggle for the right to self determination. I promise them that we are with them all the way for being the part of same body and the day is not far away when the occupied Kashmir will be liberated from the tyrant clutches of Indian forces and annex with the Pakistan. May Allah Almighty give us strength to achieve our objectives.
