MUZAFFARABAD/ MIRPUR (AJK), (Parliament Times) : The Chief Secretary of Azad Jammu and Kashmir Shakeel Qadir Khan has said that all resources would be channelized to ensure the holding of peaceful, impartial and transparent elections of the Azad Jammu and Kashmir legislative Assembly on 25th of July.
Addressing a news conference here on Tuesday, he said the directions of the Elections Commissions would be fully implemented and the government would fulfill its obligations for the peaceful and impartial conduct of the election.
He said 5300 personnel of Azad Kashmir police will be deployed while 32200 of civil armed forces personnel of other provinces would be deployed during the elections at the polling stations. He said over six to seven thousand armed force personnel would also be deployed, which is the highest deployment of law enforcing agencies in the elections. He said 826 polling stations have been declared most sensitive while 1209 have been declared sensitive. Eight security personnel each would be deployed at the most sensitive polling station while six on sensitive polling stations. The Chief Secretary said that Powers of first class magistrate have been delegated to 250 officers while the power of first class magistrate has also been given to the presiding officers for the peaceful and impartial conduct of the election and added that the code of conduct announced by the elections commission would be fully implemented. In reply to a question, he said that control rooms at district and central level have been set up to provide latest information about the elections and urged the media persons to announce news regarding elections after complete verification so that the peaceful and transparent elections could be ensured. The additional chief secretary General Dr.Asif Hussain, Secretary Information Midhat Shahzad and Inspector General of Police Sohail Habib Tajik were also present at the press conference.
