The most revered pro-freedom political leader from across the both sides of the ceasefire line, and the illegally incarcerated Chairman JKLF Mr. Muhammad Yasin Malik, who for the last over five years is languishing in solitary confinement in infamous Indian Tihar Jail at New Delhi, is being punished for his non-violent peaceful political beliefs by the PM Narinder Modi led current extremist government of India. This was stated by the special representative of Yasin Malik and the chief spokesman of JKLF Muhammad Rafiq Dar while giving his views over the citing of a single unnamed road hanging poster in New Delhi India with pictures of Yasin Malik and former PM of India Dr. Manmohan Singh, a renowned economist and a senior Indian National Congress Party leader. He termed the dragging of illegally imprisoned pro-freedom political leaders like Yasin Malik into political mudslinging amid ongoing Indian parliamentary elections in India as deplorable.

The JKLF spokesman termed the suspicious hanging of the only poster noticed in the heart of Delhi as a BJP – RSS election stunt against their opponents. He said that for their political benefits the current extremist government of India is portraying Yasin Malik, the most popular pro-freedom political leader of Jammu Kashmir, as a terrorist, and after sentencing him to life imprisonment on 25th May 2022 in fabricated, fake and politically motivated cases filed against him, is now hell bent upon to send him to the gallows. The spokesman strongly condemns such Indian inhuman approach against him and terms it as their illegal and immoral action to silence the just voice of the people of the State of Jammu Kashmir.

According to the statement the spokesman explained that the Indian intelligentsia including the top right and left wing national political leadership, for their association with Yasin Malik, are well aware of his political approach and the transformation he made from violence to non-violent means in 1995. His Gandhian and Nelson Mandelian way of non-violent peaceful political struggle for people’s rights was highly acclaimed at local and international level. Being inspired by the thoughts of Martin Luther King, Yasin Malik earned name and recognition only after he made tremendous contributions in the peaceful resolution of the long pending and internationally recognized issue of Jammu Kashmir in accordance with the wishes and aspirations of the people of the entire divided State, the spokesman added.

The non-violent peaceful political campaigns Yasin Malik ran in the disputed State and abroad were exemplary, and his active participation in the dialogue process amid international actors was highly appreciative, the statement read. His meetings with former Indian PM’s and their counterparts in Pakistan, and his interactions with vast sections of civil society including all political sections in India and Pakistan made him become more receptive in both the societies. The spokesman appealed to the saner elements in India, who for the last one decade are under threat by RSS goons, to come forward and speak up for the people’s rights.

The JKLF chief spokesman termed the extension of Indian Parliamentary elections in the disputed State of Jammu Kashmir as farcical. He said that such elections in the past, and now, since last more than three decades, in presence of nearly one million occupational forces in the State have never proved fruitful in resolving the issue.

Meanwhile the JKLF spokesman paid rich tributes to veteran Kashmiri pro-freedom political leader Shaheed Muhammad Ashraf Sehraie on his 3rd martyrdom anniversary. Shaheed Sehrai was the chairman of Tehreek-e-Hurriyat Jammu Kashmir who achieved martyrdom on 5th May, 2021 while he was in custody in Jammu jail. On the directions of BJP government of India, like many political prisoners languishing in Indian jails, old aged Muhammad Ashraf Sehraie, patient of multiple ailments, while in custody was not provided with proper medical treatment by the jail authorities, the statement read. The spokesman termed his death as a cold blooded murder by the authorities.

The spokesman expressed his deep sorrow over the sad demise of the brother of JKLF senior leader Mir Siraj-Ud-Din from Tangmarg Kashmir who breathed his last the day before yesterday. The party leaders prayed for the maghfirah of the deceased soul and patience for the family.
