Rawalpindi, (Parliament Times) Deputy Commissioner Rawalpindi Hasan Waqar Cheema said that information counters should be established at all general bus stands by tomorrow, where complete information can be given to passengers going to their home town for celebration of Eid-ul-Fitr. Special arrangements should be made for passengers to sit at bus stands. 100% implementation of fixed fares should be ensured. No concession will be made to those who receive excess fares. He expressed these views while presiding over an important meeting of Rawalpindi transporters in his office. Secretary RTA Rashid Mehmood along with transporters participated in the meeting. Addressing the meeting, he said that certificates of appreciation will be given to those who take effective cleaning measures at the bus stand. Action will be taken against those who do not take care of cleanliness. He said that the fitness certificates of all the vehicles should be checked, the vehicles which do not have the fitness certificates will not be allowed to run on the routes. Deputy Commissioner Hasan Waqar Cheema directed that action should be taken against illegal bus stands at Chungi No. 26 and action should also be taken against vehicles affecting the flow of traffic. He said that no over loading will be allowed in vehicles. He said that 50% discount should be given to passengers over 65 years of age and disabled passengers. He asked the concerned authorities to instruct the drivers to take full precautions so that people can reach their destination safely. He said that the lives of 40 to 50 people are in the hands of one driver. They should drive gently and avoid over speeding.
