Rawalpindi, (Parliament Times) : Commissioner Rawalpindi Division Engineer Aamir Khattak while presiding over the meeting held for the prevention of power theft said that all districts should complete the recoveries up to 100%. He directed IESCO officials to complete all arrangements for power supply, especially in Murree during the Eid days. Additional personnel should be deployed in Murree during the Eid holidays and a backup plan should also be prepared for power supply. Although the performance of Rawalpindi Division is the best in the province in terms of anti-electricity theft, we have to make it the best. The commissioner directed that special attention should be paid to commercial settlements as there is a high risk of power theft. He directed the Deputy Commissioner of Attock and Jhelum that there are more crashers, so special checking should be done on them. Similarly, in many hotels in Murree, heaters are installed on electricity and these should also be checked. The commissioner said that according to the report of the provincial government, such feeders where there are many line losses, with a special focus on these feeders, the violators should be identified and arrested and recovery from them should be ensured. He said that individual recovery should be done by those who were involved in it rather than imposing fines on the entire area or village.
In this meeting held at Commissioner Office Rawalpindi, CPO Khalid Hamdani, Additional Deputy Commissioner Mujahid Abbas, Assistant Commissioner Shams Tawheed, IESCO officials, Officer Special Branch Yusuf and other concerned police officers attended the meeting in person whereas Deputy Commissioner and DPO Attock, Jhelum, Murree, and Chakwal participated via video link.
On this occasion, while informing the details of the actions taken so far to prevent this theft, it was apprised that 1180 FIRs have been registered so far and 994 accused have been arrested in all five districts. Apart from this, a recovery of 08 crore 83 lakh has been done so far. In the crackdown against electricity thieves, the district administration, police, and ISCO officers are working as a movement. In the meeting, action against electricity thieves in each district and the report of penalty and arrears collection were also presented.
