Washington: Pakistan’s Ambassador to the United States, Masood Khan, praised the achievements and contributions of the NUST Alumni Network in the United States (NUSTIAN-US) in a virtual meeting with the organization’s leadership.

NUSTIAN-US is a non-profit organization that connects and supports the US-based graduates of the National University of Sciences and Technology, Pakistan (NUST), one of the leading engineering and technology universities in the country. The organization has around 1200 members who are working in various sectors and institutions in the US, such as NASA, Google, Microsoft, Harvard, MIT, and Stanford.

Ambassador Khan said that NUSTIAN-US was a source of pride for Pakistan and a valuable bridge between the two countries. He commended the organization for its charitable, educational, scientific and literary activities, which he said were benefiting both the Pakistani and American communities.

He highlighted the impressive fundraising efforts of NUSTIAN-US, which had raised $1.57 million since 2019 to support various causes, such as scholarships, mentorship, research, and disaster relief. He also appreciated the organization’s initiatives to help NUST alumni in finding jobs, enhancing their skills, and expanding their network.

He said that the Embassy was keen to collaborate with NUSTIAN-US and other professional organizations of Pakistani Americans to promote the positive image and interests of Pakistan in the US. He assured the organization of the Embassy’s full support and cooperation in its mission.

Dr. Azeem Sarwar, the President of NUSTIAN-US, thanked the Ambassador for his recognition and encouragement. He briefed him about the history and vision of the organization, as well as its current and future projects. He said that NUSTIAN-US aimed to foster a strong and vibrant community of NUST alumni in the US, and to contribute to the social and economic development of both countries.

He also invited the Ambassador to attend the upcoming NUSTIAN-US Annual Convention, which will be held in Chicago in April 2024.
