Dr. Seay is a number one Best Selling Author who is also the CEO of Everybody SeAy Read, LLC. I have two beautiful daughters. I raised them and they have become fine young ladies. I worked two jobs to take care of my family, attended school full time and earned several certifications and degrees. Any time I was faced with traumatic experiences, education was my outlet. I am truly a life-long learner. Embracing obstacles can encourage us to think and move differently. Dr. Seay exemplifies the power of embracing obstacles, fostering creative thinking, nurturing resilience, and unlocking our true potential. “I started my business with a focus to help individuals live healthier and happier lives. Educating others is truly my purpose. With only one year as a solopreneur, I experienced a divorce and I walked away with nothing. Not knowing where I would live, how I would survive, walking by faith. He wanted a divorce and asked me to leave “his house” and I did. For two years, I worked in survival mode to take care of myself without a clear plan for my business, just chasing and networking to establish and build relationships to get clients. I have continued to smile, to give, and serve, and encourage others to achieve goals. By God’s grace, I have kept drumming. I missed a few beats. However, my song is still going strong because the beat goes on! I am grateful that my parents instilled in us to never give up! Always stay focused and work to take care of ourselves. And that if we did not make any mistakes, it was an indication that we were not doing anything. I understand that shifts happen in life. When adversity happens, I go deep, find strength from within, learn the lesson(s) and keep moving forward. I thank him and I am grateful for the experience. I have learned several lessons from being in a relationship with him for two decades. The divorce helped me to see who I am and how I neglected myself to be what I thought was the right thing to do and be. I was sidetracked and my focus changed for a little while from what my parents taught us. After going through different emotional phases of being angry, hurt, and sad for a couple of months; I turned my pain into power, educating myself to improve my knowledge and skills as a business owner. Over a six-year span, I have lost my biological parents, stepparents, an aunt who was like a parent. I thought that I was doing a good job with handling the deaths. Because I know that it is a part of the life cycle. When we lost Mother, that really broke me down, really to the “Core.” I became depressed and did not know that I was depressed. I was in a very dark place. From that hardship/trauma, D3 Health Fitness, LLC became official. My mother was a Hair Stylist, and she tried the best she could to tell us to become an entrepreneur. My heart and mind were focused solely on serving in the K-12 sector at that time. When I was working on my first master’s degree. A professor, who was assigned to me as an advisor told me that Education Leadership was no place for me, being a woman and of color. He said, I should focus on remaining in the classroom as an Early Childhood Educator. “That was the place for me.” Tears filled my eyes. I fought them back. I said to the professor, “I am not only going to finish this program, but I am also going to do it early with a GPA of 3.5 or higher.” It appeared that he tried to make things difficult for me. Nevertheless, I achieved my goal and proved my point, specifically for myself. To know that I can achieve any goal my heart desired.” stated Dr. Seay.
