ISLAMABAD, (Parliament Times) : The first International Conference on Media and Communication Studies ICMACS 2022 is organized by Department of Arts and Media, Foundation University School of Science & Technology. The 1st International Conference on Media and Communication aims at forming the lines of communication, increase in the academic mobility and formation of mechanisms for personal interaction with foreign researchers and subject specialists related to the educational, social, political and media circles from academia and industry in diverse panel discussions.
Rector FUI Major General Nasir Dilawar Shah, HI (M) , (Retired) said while addressing to opening ceremony of the conference “The significance of media and communication cannot be ignored in the technology based revolutionary era. World rely on information of media and It has changed the dynamics of all fields and disciplines of life. Media plays its constructive role by communicating information about political, war, weather, and health social, economic, gender, religion and human rights etc. to influence and educate society by presenting the true picture of these issues”.
Chief Guest of the conference Dr Zafar Iqbal , Professor Islamic University Islamabad said Modern media has connected public to authorities directly to expose and resolve critical issues of society in all aspects. The research in this field is a mandatory part to get insight of functioning of media and communication in all dimensions.
While addressing to closing ceremony Pro Rector/ Director FUSST Dr Abdul Ghafoor said “. ICMACS 2022 will embark to bring excellence in the standards of media, communication, and journalism to meet up at international competition. This is a great chance for our researchers to benefit themselves by networking and mutual understanding with scholars. Events like the “ICMACS 2022 “are therefore important and have significant positive effect on the successful integration between people and societies.
Dean Social Sciences Dr Fazal Rahim Khan thanked scholars and dignitaries and said that this conference is the great investment in progressive growth of research in the media and communication to improve practice of research and teaching media studies in Pakistan.
The conference was centered on themes— Uses and effects of Mass Media by Individuals and Society, Use of New technologies in news gathering, Social Media uses & freedom of speech, Media Education and Media Literacy, Issues of cross cultural and intercultural communication, Political communication. More than 30 research articles on the themes of the conference were presented by national and international scholars.
Scholars and dignitaries from Islamic University Islamabad, NUML, Riphah University Islamabad, Punjab University Lahore, University of Management and Technology Lahore, University of Gujrat, Shahid Benzair Bhutto University, Sindh, Minhaj University, Lahore, University of Malakand, University of Swat and thank you to our guest speakers and Chair persons from Arizona State University, United States, United Kingdome, Malaysia and Ireland participated in this research conference.
