Depression, anxiety, frustration, sadness are the terms which are usual in today’s world since lots of people are suffering from it but it’s not only with the adults our young generation is also suffering from it and when I say young generation it means the early years of the child. The available data shows that age 3 is the lowest at which children’s depression appears. and 3 to 6 years are the most common in which a child can get depressed. We people think that only adults are suffering from depression which is the wrong perspective. We have no idea about how depression in the early years is harming our young children which is not good for the children as well as for the world. Some people argue how a young child could be depressed. my answer to their question would be that ” yes children do get depressed their depression or the reason for being sad is may not be the same as that of adults but at their age, they also have many reasons to get depressed ” for instance parent’s separation, pressure from school, teachers, or parents, a Loved one who may have left them, not having friends, physical health, vulnerable life events, bad environment and many more but now One thing which we need to understand that just because a child seems sad doesn’t necessarily mean they have significant depression but if the sadness becomes persistent or interferes with normal social activities or family life it may mean that they have a depressive illness. Another question which you may have in your mind is how can we know that the child is depressed? For that we have to keep in mind that the condition is often undiagnosed and untreated because symptoms are passed off as normal emotional and physiological changes. Early medical studies tell us some noticeable symptoms which could be, angry behavior or acting out, sadness or low mood, a feeling of hopelessness, mood swings, change in social activities, loss of interest in major areas, and poor academics. not all children have all of these symptoms; it can happen at different times, in different settings. As an adult it’s our responsibility that we should take care of the children around us and their mental health and for that, we need to be patient with the children if your child is suffering from depression treat them with love, talk to them about their favorite thing or talk to them about the reason of them being sad, enjoy daily life moments with them , have a good time with them but if a child has some serious issues don’t feel hesitated and take your child to a therapist set up a visit and do what the doctor will recommend because if we will not take a step today then tomorrow your child would not be able to take a step towards the world.
