Child abduction is a big problem in Sindh, Pakistan. It hurts families and communities a lot. Take Priya Kumari’s case as an example. She was only seven years old. Priya has not been found yet. On Moharram 10, 2021, Priya and her father, Raju Mal, who is a shopkeeper, were setting up a SABEEL ( free water stall for the Karbala tragedy) in Sukkur, Sindh. Priya, who is in the third standard, was kidnapped from that stall. We still don’t know where she is or if she’s alive. Another similar case happened in Kashmore district in May 2023. Muhammad Azeem, who was only three years old, was kidnapped after Friday prayers. We still don’t know where he is either. There are lots of cases like these in Sindh, but many people don’t report them because they’re scared. Sometimes, kids get taken for money or other bad reasons. When a child goes missing, it doesn’t just hurt their family. It also makes people lose trust in the police and government and feel unsafe in their neighborhoods. We really need to do something about this. The government should make sure the police are doing a good job, tell people how to stay safe, and help families who’ve lost a child. They should also work with groups that know how to help. But right now, the government isn’t doing enough. Lots of cases stay unsolved, and families keep suffering. I think the government needs to focus more on keeping kids safe. If they don’t, it makes everyone feel scared and unsure. In short, we have to act fast to stop child abduction in Sindh. Every kid deserves to grow up safe. The government needs to step up and take action about these cases.
