ZHOB: ‘Although social media plays a dominant role in the society and it has now become an integrated part of our lives, yet it also the responsibility of the state to legislate for its positive use in order to prevent the spread of negative propaganda through social media,’ said Assistant Commissioner Jarullah Jalalzai while speaking at a seminar entitled ‘Social media’s impact on the society and the role of youth’ held at the Boys’ Degree college Zhob. The seminar was organized by the district administration in collaboration with the Education department under Pakistan Project. AC Jarullah presided over the event while college principal Prof Syed Amin Shah Bukhari was the chief guest at the event.

District Education Officer Lal Jan Musakhail, DOE Sheikh Musa Khan Mandokhail, DDOs Wali Khan Mandokhail, Ajab Khan Kakar, Ex-divisional director Gulab Khan Mandokhail, ex-principal Model high school Payo Muhammad Mandokhail, Chief Officer MC Saleem Achakzai, Deputy Director Social Welfare Malak Ehsan-ul-Haq Mandokhail, professors, senior teachers, media representatives and students from boys college and different educational institutions attended the seminar. Students delivered their speeches on the use of social media and highlighted its both positive and negative aspects.

Prof. Hashim Babar and Prof. Abdul Rehman Amin on the occasion said that holding the seminar was aimed at making the youth particularly students aware about the positive use of the social media.

Acting Principal Degree College Syed Amin Shah Bukhari, ex-divisional director Gulab Khan Mandokhail and Prof. Abdullah Shakir while speaking at the seminar highlighted the importance of social networking websites and said that today the world has become a global village and the importance of social media cannot be denied as it is no doubt an informative forum and the easiest means of communication, but it is need of hour to create an awareness among the youth about its positive use. They added.

Prizes were distributed among the students who delivered their speeches and souvenirs were also presented to the senior teachers – who have shown outstanding performance and contributed to the education field, the guests and journalists as well.
