LAHORE: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has decided to rename the Gaddafi cricket stadium, it emerged.
PCB Chairman Ramiz Raja, during an interview revealed that cricket controlling board was going to rename most of country’s stadiums, while attempts in this regard were already initiated for the Gaddafi stadium.
Ramiz told foreign cricket website that international organizations were being involved by the PCB to carry out bidding in this regard, while those organizations will be evaluating sponsorship of out stadiums.
The PCB Chairman revealed chances of renaming National Stadium Karachi and other cricket grounds after ‘provision of suitable sponsors’. It is pertinent to mention here that while there have been several moves in the past to change the name of the stadium, those were for political reasons. In February 2013, not long after Gaddafi’s death, the Punjab Olympic Association asked the provincial chief minister to rename the stadium in keeping with increasing public opinion against the former Libyan leader.
