“Pakistan not only means freedom and independence but the Muslim ideology which has come to us as a precious gift and treasure which we hope others will share with us.” Muhammad Ali Jinnah.14th August is the most valuable day in the history of Pakistan. This was the day when as a nation we got out separate identities. Muslim ruled the subcontinent before the British penetration and suffered due to the 1857 uprising against the British East India Company. The Indian National Congress was formed in 1885, which later on became British India’s largest political party. Major Muslim political leaders, including Muhammad Ali Jinnah, were members of the Indian National Congress and worked towards Hindu-Muslim unity and India’s independence. Strong Hindu nationalism gave birth to the Two-Nation Theory, an ideology that becomes the basis for Pakistan’s creation. In 1940 the Pakistan Resolution was passed in Lahore demanding greater Muslim autonomy in British India. The Pakistan Movement, led by Muhammad Ali Jinnah, resulted in creating a Muslim state. Pakistan gained independence from British rule on August 14, 1947. At its birth, Pakistan had two parts commonly referred to as East and West Pakistan. In 1971 East Pakistan parted from West Pakistan and became Bangladesh.Being a Pakistani every year we celebrate this day with great zeal. It was the day, when Muslims of the subcontinent got the blessing of independence and Pakistan, was created as a separate nation on the world map. The struggle for a separate nation was not that easy as millions of Muslims sacrificed their life and wealth for the creation of Pakistan.“With faith, discipline and selfless” devotion to duty there is nothing worthwhile you can’t achieve.” Quaid-e-Azam On this day we got our own identity and our values we got our name and respect as a free nation. On this auspicious day, we should never forget the sacrifices of our hero’s. Muhammad Ali Jinnah, Allama Iqbal, Sir Syed Ahmed Khan and Syed Ameer Ali work diligently for the sake of the Independent state. On this Independence Day, we should pledge with ourselves that we will work wholeheartedly and with complete devolution for the development of our country and always keep this question in mind, how and why we attained this separate state? And we should remember our Kashmiris brothers and sisters who are fighting to achieve the right of self-determination. We want to give the world message that Kashmiris are not alone in their struggle we are with them and will fight with them till our last breath.
