RAWALPINDI: (Nadeem Tanoli): In violation of the basic labour laws, more than 100 daily wagers are performing duties without office orders/ appointment letters at the Cantonment Board Chaklala, The Parliament Times has learnt. According to the list available with this scribe, more than 100 gardeners are working in the Chaklala Cantonment Board (CCB) as daily wagers for the last several years without having any formal office orders or appointment letters. Sources revealed that large numbers of these gardeners are performing duties in the houses of the officers as drivers, cooks, gardeners or house cleaners. Some of these are also performing duties as sanitary workers or loaders in different sections of the CCB. These workers are paid from the national exchanger as daily wage workers.
Despite performing duties for the last several years, these workers are deprived of their basic labour rights because they are not having any office orders or appointment letters. Sources said, last week the Rawalpindi Cantonment Board also terminated more than 27 daily wage workers of similar nature who were performing duties at the residences of the officers and were getting salaries from the public body.
Sources informed that those workers who demand office order or appointment letter are fired from the services in Chaklala Cantonment Board
