MIRPUR ,(Parliament Times): Exactly 10 days after the tragic accident, the bodies of illustrious AJK politician and member of AJK Legislative Assembly Sardar Sagheer Ahmed Khan Chughtai and his 37-years-old driver Muhammad Saeed s/o Muhammad Akter of Naghman Pura, Bagh district, were Saturday appeared and recovered from Mangla dam reservoir near here.
Both of the bodies were found floating in the lake in the dam. Rescue 1122 besides the Ambulances of Edhi rushed the site and dragged out of the deep-watered reservoir. The bodies were later shifted to the Mirpur Div. Headquarter Teaching Hospital for formal medico legal proceeding for onward movement to their native Rawalakot district for burial.
Besides the local administration / police team led by DSP city Raja Nadeem Arif, PTI AJK President and former AJK Prime Minister Barrister Sultan Mahmood Chaudhry and large number of people including the PTI activists also rushed the site at the bank of Mangla dam to supervise the recovery process of the bodies from the reservoir for onward shifting to the Mirpur DHQ Hospital. Earlier the body of Ehtesham, Public Relations Officer (PRO) of ill-fated Sardar Sagheer Chughtai was recovered from the rivers fall at the Mangla dam near Dadayal on Thursday.
Our Correspondent Altaf Hamid Rao reports from Mirpur that the unfortunate Member of Azad Jammu & Kashmir Legislative Assembly and Candidate of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf for Scheduled July 25 AJK General Elections, Sardar Muhammad Saghir Chughtai besides three other persons, lost their lives as his vehicle skidded into Jhelum river, after clashing with another car near Azad Patan in Kahuta Sub division of Rawalpindi when he was on way to Rawalakot from Rawalpindi on June 10.
Besides all the four bodies including both of the vehicles could not be traced immediate from the fast speeding currents of the deep river at the site despite hectic efforts by the rescue teams. Later on the car with whom Sagheer’s vehicle was reportedly collided head on and fell into the Jhelum river, was recovered besides recovery of all the four bodies so far following hectic efforts for 10-days in search of the bodies. Sardar Saghir Ahmed Khan Chughtai was recently nominated as Candidate of the PTI from AJK’s Electoral Constituency LA-22 Rawalakot, Poonch Division, for AJK Legislative Assembly Elections scheduled to be held on July 25 this year. Chughtai had, in the recent past, parted ways from the All Jammu & Kashmir Muslim Conference, and joined the PTI AJK to contest the scheduled AJK elections.
