MIRPUR, (Parliament Times):  April 20: Britian-based Kashmiri rights outfit – the Global Pak-Kashmir Supreme Council (GPKSC) Tuesday vehemently condemned the  desecration of a mosque and killing of over ten  innocent Kashmiri youth by the  brutal Indian forces in the Shopian and Pulwama areas of Indian Illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

“The cold-blooded killing of 10 youth in four days  since last Thursday and ruthless shelling on a mosque in  Shopian town with heavy weapons destroying the structure of the mosque is the worst example of state terrorism and violence,” the GPKSC Chairman Raja Sikander Khan and President of the organization Kala Khan and other office bearers including executive members of the organization said while condemning and expressing grave concern over  the latest killing spree of innocent Kashmiris by Indian occupation forces in IIOJK.

In a statement issued  simultaneously in London and Mirpur (AJK) on Tuesday, the GPKSC leaders expressed their grave concern over the fast worsening  political and human rights situation in the valley said that killing Kashmiri youth during fake encounters, vandalizing and blowing public properties into ashes by using gunpowder and other explosive materials has become a new norm in Kashmir. “Even sacred sites and places of worships are no longer safe in Kashmir”, they said adding that  the heinous attacks on places of worship have increased during the recent couple of years.

Describing  sacrilege of Mosque an outrageous assault on the religious sentiments of people the GPKSC Chairman Raja Sikander Khan said in the statement  that attacks on places of worship by the Indian troops was a manifestation of growing xenophobia and racism among rank and file of the Indian army. Khan called forinternational community’s immediate  pro-active role to an overcome the ongoing genocide of Kashmiris in particular the youth. He further, appealed the global community  to exert moral and diplomatic pressure on India to put an immediate end to unabated human rights violations being committed by its occupaton troops in the restive region.

Referring to the gravity of the sharp deteriorating situation in IIOJK, the GPKSC Chairman called upon  the International Community, particularly the United Nation, five permanent members of UNSC, Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), to exert immediate due pressure on India to immediately stop the brutal killing of defenseless Kashmiris in IIOJK.

Raja Sikander Khan said that the tragic Shopian incident was the manifestation of Indian extremist and fascist government’s nefarious designs and move  to eliminate  every symbol in the muslim-majority Indian Illegally occupied Jammu & Kashmir state related to Islam and Muslims.

Describing  the desecration of the mosque, the holiest place of Muslims, as an outrageous assault on the religious sentiments of the people of IIOJK, the GPKSC Chief said the despicable act has also hurt the religious sentiments of Muslims the world-over.

Condemning the frequent mass killing of innocent Muslim Kashmiri youth besides the rights abuses by Indian occupational forces, the GPKSC President Kala Khan said that the IIOJK Muslim population was facing the history’s worst kind of state terrorism and violence coupled with the bigotry of the highest degree. The GPKSC President said that the latest nefarious  move by the occupying Indian Army in IIOJK has once again made it clear that New Delhi believes in the use of force to keep Kashmir under its brutal subjugation instead of resolving the issue through dialogue and peaceful political means.

He further said that the attack on the Shopian Mosque by the Indian Army and its desecration was not the first incident but the history of Kashmir was replete with this kind of incidents. The GPKSC President said that such incidents would give a new impetus and strength to the legitimate and just struggle of the people of Jammu and Kashmir instead of suppressing the movement for freedom and right to self-determination.

Kala Khan appealed to the international community to take cognizance of the situation in IOJK and pressurize India to put an immediate end to unabated human rights abuses  committed by its occupation forces  in the bleeding occupied vale of Kashmir.
