Attock, (Bureau Report) : As the deadline to implement the ban on the sale and use of plastic bags concludes, the Attock district administration has joined hands with the other stakeholders to evolve a strategy to make the district “plastic-free”. To implement the plan, a meeting was held at the committee room of the deputy commissioner’s office on Monday which was chaired by Deputy Commissioner Rao Atif Raza attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner General Anil Saeed, Assistant Director Environment Protection Agency Attock Shazeera Maryam, District Officer Industry RabiaNaseem, Assistant Commissioner city ShaughtaJabin, Chief Officer of Attock Municipality Aftab Ahmed Khan, Chief Officer of Attock District Council Sajid Ali Khan, Chief Officer of Municipality Fatehjang Khan Badshah and other related officers. The decision is part of a ‘No to plastic’ campaign set to be launched on Earth Day which is observed on April 22. The day will be celebrated widely in the districts throughout Punjab. It was resolved that the department heads assistant commissioners and chief officers of all six tehsils of the district would ensure strict enforcement of the ban on plastic bags.
