LAHORE:    118 deaths were reported during last 24 hours due to novel coronavirus while 5395 persons tested positive on Thursday.

According to the latest figures by the National Command and Operation Center (NCOC) number of positive cases have reached 739818 and nation wide fatalities have soared to 15872. .

Punjab remains the worst-hit province in terms of deaths followed by Sindh and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Till now 7,209 individuals have lost their lives to the epidemic in Punjab 4,533 in Sindh, 2,761 in KP, 625 in Islamabad, 420 in Azad Kashmir, 221 in Balochistan, and 103 in GB.

10,942,771 corona virus tests have been carried out so far in the country and 64,685 in the last 24 hours. The number of recovered patients stand at 646,652 while 4,276 patients are said to be in precarious condition. .

270,310 coronavirus cases have been confirmed in Sindh, 258,441 in Punjab, 102,290 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 68,066 in Islamabad, 20,580 in Balochistan, 14,978 in Azad Kashmir and 5,153 in Gilgit-Baltistan.

A day earlier, the coronavirus monitoring body issued a set of new coronavirus guidelines in order to mitigate the adverse effects of the virus during Ramadan.
Given the alarming surge in coronavirus cases, the forum decided to implement “broader lockdowns”, with stringent enforcement protocols where no mobility will be allowed except in emergency situations.
Saturdays and Sundays will be observed as closed days at the national level, read the notification issued by the coronavirus monitoring body.
The World Health Organization expressed concern that the Covid-19 pandemic could worsen in the Middle East and North Africa during the Muslim fasting month of Ramadan.
