On the night of April 3 and 4, 1979, General Zia assassinated his powerful rival, Mr. Bhutto, in a fake assassination trial. As soon as this news came, a severe shock survived in the world and also there was a universal reaction, which was strongly condemned by the world leaders and the governments. There was a wave of outrage among Pakistanis abroad. Large demonstrations took place, especially in London and European countries. The era of Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto was an important and golden era in the history of Pakistan which will always be remembered. If Pakistan is a nuclear power today, it is because of Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto. Pakistan Peoples Party is still the largest party in Pakistan. PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari should give more importance to the old and sacrificial people of the party who have fought hard against every dictator and tyrant to further strengthen the party.
It has been 42 years since the judicial assassination of Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto, the founding chairman of the Pakistan People’s Party. He is still the pivot of national politics. The people cannot forget his innumerable achievements in foreign policy. He established relations with the world’s major powers and third world countries without compromising Pakistan’s neutrality and prestige. Leading projects including Pakistan’s nuclear program, steel mills, economic recovery, a wide network of educational institutions, agrarian reform, medical colleges, the elimination of English speeches, protection of workers, public political awareness and the export of manpower abroad. The personality of Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto Shaheed has a legendary role in Pakistan’s political history. Any political debate seems incomplete without the mention of Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto. On this day, the PPP must
pledge that it would continue the party’s principled fight to make Pakistan a truly democratic state in accordance with the thoughts and ideas of Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto if in future comes into power. As Bhutto was a shrewd and resourceful politician who never compromised on principles and kept fighting the imperialist powers till the end, similarly, the chairman of PPP Mr. Bilawal should follow in his steps and successful political agendas.
