Federal Government has developed Single National Curriculum (SNC) to implement this across the country. Pakistan is the country with extensive diversity with different cultures and tribal backgrounds where people are speaking different languages. Mostly, language is the basis of ethnicity in Pakistan. Punjabi is the major ethnic class consisting 48% of overall population of the country whereas Sindhi 12%, Saraiki 10%, Urdu speaking 8%, Balochi 3%, Hindko 2%, Brahui 1% and others are 8%. SNC is based on the concept which implies education for all. It consists of one system of curriculum for all the classes. The medium of instructions is same for all the grades from class 1 to 12. The Federal Government is facing great challenges as education has been the provincial business after 18th amendment. I am afraid that SNC would not reach at implanting stage because we have different examination boards like Federal, Agha Khan, Cambridge International Examination and Board of Intermediate & Secondary Education all over the country having their own examination system based on the prescribed curriculum. Private sector has already denied adopting SNC whereas Madrasah have also refused to implement the same. It has been reported that Sindh Govt. has done better in the field of curriculum than other provinces that is why it has shown great concerns regarding national curriculum. SNC is being topic of great dispute and debate and the time will decide would it be possible to bring a nation with diverse ethnicity and backgrounds at Single National Curriculum???
