Economy is frail. The second wave of pandemic is escalating rapidly. Institutional imbalance is creating gulf. Parliament and bureaucracy are dysfunctional. Indian aggression is on peak. New alliances are in the making in the world. The region is at the mercy of proxies. It is high time for us avert impingement. Since the inception of Pakistan, the political instability has been a serious issue. After the demise of Quaid azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, the tug of war and military intervention started in politics which still perdures. The present political fiasco started after 2018 election. The opposition alleges establishment of rigging elections while the PTI led government blames opposition of responsible for all miseries of past and alleges that its leaders have been involved in Money laundering and corruption.

The eleven parties allience PDM has given a deadline to the government to step down untill 31 January. If the Government fails to do so, the opposition has threatened to resign from National and Provincial assemblies, after which they will March on the Capital. On the flip side, the government is reluctant to start negotiations and handle the issue through dialogue. The Prime Minister himself has been showing arrogance towards opposition.

The abuse culture, battle of words and confrontation have brought the country on the verge of devastation. Not only political instability has increased but the institutions and parliament have also
become dysfunctional . The economy, in the midst of Covid pandemic has fragiled . Uncertainty and insecurity have increased. Frustration, inflation, poverty and unemployment are their capstone.

The Geopolitics of the region has been changing. New alliances are being constituted. Indian Agression is at its height. The US and India have been trying to encircle Pakistan and China through BECA agreement. The killing of Iranian Scientist Mohsin Fakhrizada through advanced sophisticated weapons has resulted in alarms in the neighboring countries. In the midst of all these developments, the political instability in Pakistan would prove disastrous.

The onus of responsibility is on the shoulders of the government. The Prime Minister should end its arrogance , obstinateness and egoism and prepare ground for dialogue and meaningful talks with opposition. The mantra of so called Corruption should be stopped now and political victimization of opposition leaders must come to an end. Opposition should also realise the consequences of the ongoing situation and start negotiations. Both the government and opposition should try to resolve the issues which have been the points of confrontation. Both parties should sit on table for electoral reforms, and new accountability law which are the bone of contention between opposition and the government. The situation demands flexibility from both sides. We have to set our home in order first. All stake holders must realise their responsibilities. A new Charter of Pakistan is the dire need of the hours. If we want a prosperous, developed, and responsive Pakistan for encountering the vicious designs of the enemy, then the menace of political instability does not fit in the scenario.
