ISLAMABAD:    Foreign Minister (FM) Shah Mehmood Qureshi has said demonstration of maturity by opposition and government in joint session of parliament is highly commendable.

“We express our gratitude to opposition leader Mian Shahbaz Sharif and PPP chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari for participation of opposition in joint session of parliament and their assistance in legislation. The way not only the government but also the opposition demonstrated maturity in joint session of parliament is highly appreciable which was convened with reference to FATF and Kashmir issue on August 6”, he said in his letters written to opposition leader Mian Shahbaz Sharif and Bilawal Bhutto Zardari Tuesday.

FM further said in his letters “ I have praised the attitude of opposition on the floor of the house. The government and opposition parties in the parliament have once again proved all the political parties being represented in parliament have unanimity of views on protection of national interests.

All the political parties in the parliament had unanimously rejected through joint resolution illegal and unilateral steps taken by Indian government in Occupied Kashmir on August 05, 2019, he underlined. We have raised the ongoing blatant human rights violations by Indian government in Occupied Kashmir during last one year on every forum in the world, he added.

Kashmir issue was put to debate for three times in UN Security Council during the last one year. Debate took place in UN Security Council on Kashmir after 55 years, he remarked.

“We are eager to take along Opposition on all key national issues including Kashmir and we will continue to give importance to practicable recommendations from opposition. I will look forward to your positive proposals to evolve future mechanism with reference to Kashmir policy”, he stated in his letters.
