Muzaffarabad: While expressing his dismay over Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi’s statement on India Pakistan Peoples’ Party Azad Jammu and Kashmir (PPP AJK) President Chaudhary Latif Akbar has said that his off the cuff remarks have hurt the sentiments of Kashmiris across the line of control.

In a statement issued here on Friday, he said that foreign minister should immediately pardon as he hurt the sentiments of people in Kashmir living along both sides of Line of Control.

Akbar stated that a country that has wreaked havoc on the people of Jammu and Kashmir since 1947 and thousands of people have sacrificed their lives in resistance for freedom but Shah Mehmood Qureshi said that it wouldn’t create any effect.

He maintained that the freedom movement of Jammu and Kashmir is based on UN resolutions and we are endeavoring for its implementation.

“However, India after becoming a non-permanent member will try to suppress the voice of Kashmir cause on international forums” he added.

India became a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) last year, India’s candidature received undisputed support from all countries in the 55 member Asia-Pacific Group for its bid to secure the seat for a two-year term in 2021-22
