Rawalpindi: (Parliament Times) Advisor to President of PTI North Punjab Haji Mohammad Gulzar Awan has termed the PM Imran Khan’s instructions for physical construction of big water reservoirs a historical decision and said the people of Pakistan had been waiting this decision for decades.
He made this statement while talking with notables who met with him in PTI Public Secretariat Amn House Peshawar Road Rawalpindi Cantt. here on the other day.
Haji Mohammad Gulzar Awan said the construction of Diamer Bhasha Dam, Dsu Hydropower Project and Sindh Barrage has long been waited by the people of Pakistan but unfortunately the issue of water security did not get attention of successive governments in the past. “Past successive governments Politicized the purely public welfare and economic issues due to which we are now facing the scarcity of water but the whole enation salutes to the Prime Minister Imran Khan who accumulated all resources and issued instruction for physical construction of these reservoirs”, he added.
He quoted the experts as saying the alone Diamer Bhasha Dam will create more than 16500 jobs, 4500 megawatts of cheap and affordable electricity coupled with help to overcome water shortage for drinking and irrigation. He also mentioned that with the start of construction work on these projects thousands of job opportunities would be created which would help reduce unemployment and poverty.
“We are in the need of wet our agricultural fields to make them able to enhance yields and provide safe and healthy drinking water to our people especially those who reside in deserted areas”, he mentioned saying more that these water reservoirs would do so.
