Muzaffarabad: International day of elimination of violence against women was marked as 113th day of Indian military siege in Indian Occupied Kashmir (IOK) while all communication line are choked and Kashmiri women are facing the wrath of Indian state terrorism.
A seminar was held under the aegis of Institute of Dialogue Development and Diplomatic Studies (IDDDS) in collaboration with Al-Habib Science College Muzaffarabad here on Monday.
Speaking on the occasion, Director IDDDS Dr. Waleed Rasool has said that women in IOK are under lockdown for the last 113 days and such brutal siege has created humanitarian crisis in IOK.
He asked that isn’t 113 days of communication blockade is enough for world bodies to wake up from deep slumber?
He reiterated that while the world is observing this day to stop violence against women, however, on the other hand women in IOK are killed, humiliated and abused since after the blockade by Indian incumbent government on 5th August 2019.
Dr. Waleed maintained that Women in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) can play their role for ongoing freedom movement when the other part under Indian occupation is bleeding.
He stated the role of Asia Andrabi, Naheed Nasreen and Fahmeeda Bibi regarding Kashmir freedom of movement that they are suffering imprisonments without any wrongdoing in the notorious Tihar jail of India. The daughters of Kashmir are caged because they are demanding implementation of UN resolutions and are struggling to bring their homeland (Kashmir) from the clutches of India.
“Though right to self-determination is guaranteed by 5th January 1949 resolution, therefore, these daughter’s role is heroic who are suffering behind bars of Tihar Jail Delhi” he said.
Director IDDDS urged the women in AJK to play their starring role in the development of Pakistan by giving examples great women’s knowledge and wisdom in history.
He added the scientific interpretations of Unity, faith and Discipline. Dr. Rasool said that Kashmiri are determined to continue their freedom struggle despite of inhuman siege, “Kashmiri are struggling for their just right of freedom besides seeking justice from world organizations on deteriorating situation in IOK.
Vice Principal Gulnaz Munsaf on the event said that this day remind us about the importance of women and students were apprised about history of Islam and rights of women. “Women in IOK are suffering Indian atrocities at every nook and corner and international community must take stern notice on violence against women in IOK” she added.
The sociologist Faiza Gillani present in the seminar said that we stand with our sisters on other side of ceasefire line, “we will continue our struggle despite of all odds” she said.
Principal Al-Habib Science College Sheraaz Awan, faculty of college, Tabish Abbasi, Rashid Ahmed and others were also present on the occasion.
