Rawalpindi: (Parliament Times) The Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI) President Saboor Malik has said that RCCI is ready to play as facilitator in resolving trade issues with Government. The trade activities in the twin cities have been shrunk and traders are facing multi-faceted challenges to meet their livelihood. He was talking to Deputy Commissioner Rawalpindi Saifullah Dogar in his office. He informed that the measure taken but FBR and finance ministry in the fiscal budget are not in a match with the ground realities. The business community is not against the documentation of economy, however, the harassment on the account of revenue collection and documentation must be stopped.
He highlighted the core challenges including high and aggressive revenue targets, double digit inflation, Rupee depreciation, high interest rate, lower business activity due to high POL prices and over all contraction in national economy.
He suggested that stakeholders must be taken on board while finalizing the policies. The documentation and maintenance of accounts are good step to make things clear and transparent however, we need time to adopt the new policy, he added.
He demanded that Government must realized the ground realities of informal economy and suggested to deferred/waive Computerised National Identity Card (CNIC) condition. He also invited deputy commissioner to visit Chamber house and address business community.
Deputy Commissioner Saifullah Dogar asked traders to demonstrate wisdom here. In preview of current economic contraction, the protests and rallies are not in favor of the national economy, he added. He appreciated RCCI offer to play as facilitator and bridging gap between trade associations and the government.
He voiced that government will provide maximum conducive environment to traders to flourish their businesses.
Top executives of RCCI, members of the executive committee. former president Suhail Altaf, Mian Humayun Parvez and representatives from the trade associations were also present on the occasion.
